Unleash your creativity at our hands-on ceramic handbuilding workshop! In this engaging session, you’ll learn the art of handbuilding as you craft two custom to-go tumblers from slabs of clay. Perfect for all skill levels, this workshop invites everyone to explore their artistic side.

Under the guidance of our skilled instructor, you’ll discover techniques for rolling out and shaping your slabs into unique tumbler designs. You’ll have the opportunity to decorate and personalize your pieces, ensuring they are truly one-of-a-kind. All materials will be provided, and each tumbler will be finished with a food-safe glaze, making your creations both beautiful and functional for everyday use.

Do I need any prior experience to participate in the workshop?

No prior experience is necessary! This workshop is designed for all skill levels, from beginners to experienced potters. Our instructor will guide you through each step of the process, ensuring that everyone feels comfortable and confident.

What materials do I need to bring?

All materials, including clay, tools, and glazes, will be provided for you during the workshop. Just bring your creativity and enthusiasm!

How long will the tumblers take to be ready after the workshop?

After the workshop, your tumblers will need to be fired and glazed, which typically takes about 2-3 weeks. Once they are ready, you will be notified to pick them up at the studio or arrange for delivery, depending on the studio’s policies.

Clay Program

With six potters wheels and ample studio accoutrements, Potters Cove offers instructional classes for all levels. Wheel classes meet Monday and Wednesday mornings as well as Friday afternoons. Our hand-building program meets Friday mornings. There is limited seating. Afternoon open studio time by appointment is included with registration and available Monday – Thursday. Private individual and private group classes available.

Glass Art

If glass is your passion, we are fully fitted for kiln glass production. When you join this class, you will work independently with our instructor, or if you are new to fired glass, you will begin with assignments then move quickly to the independent program. Our goal is for you to pursue your own sense of aesthetics in this mesmerizing medium. This class meets Thursday afternoon.

Enamel Program

Looking for something a little different? We have a complete enameling facility with two kilns and support materials to make any variety of art objects; jewelry, plaques, dishes and more! Great ideas are boundless when it comes to enamel. After you learn the basics, you will work independently with the help of an instructor to master your new skills. This class meets Tuesday mornings. Private workshops are also available.

What to Expect with Class Enrollment:

Monthly Enrollment (4 classes per month)

Students should enroll for the beginning of any month. If not fully booked and a seat is available, a prorated rate will apply for the remainder of that month.

Open Studio for clay registrants

Students enrolled in monthly clay classes can access additional studio time by appointment. Open studio access is a huge perk to help you independently move your projects forward.

Storage Space

Store your work in progress at the studio while in different levels of creation. If your piece needs to dry for example, there is no need to bring it home, we will store it here for you!

Kiln Priority

Have anything that needs to be fired up? Whether it is something that you created here or at home, we give kiln priority to all our students enrolled in monthly classes. 

Get Discounts for Private Events

When you’re enrolled in our monthly classes, you get special discounts for booking any of our private classes whether it’s an individual, couples or group private class. You must be signed up for that current month to qualify for event discounts.
